Pirna - final destination

This is Pirna, cool little town where I decided I should turn around.

More bike Ride

Dresden Bike Ride

The day started out pretty ugly and rainy, but about 2 or so, it turned nice enough to go for a ride.  Here are some pictures.

More Dresden Pictures. This was bombed during SEIKO and just recently rebuilt from what was left.

Singapore – MacRitchie Park (10k hike!)

IMG_0535

This is a great place to get away from crowds in Singapore.  It’s a short 15 minute taxi from most hotels in Singapore.  There are several hikes.  I did this with a friend of mine and we started out doing a 5km hike and ended up doing 10km.  It’s warm, humid, and tropical in Singapore.  I was soaked in sweat after we finished this hike.  There are several trails in the park.  I suggest the Tree-Top hike.

Melaka, Malaysia – The Food

IMG_0526

Malaysia (and Singapore) are about the food.  In Malaysia, food is generally inexpensive and really good.  The main foods are Malay, Indian, and (localized) Chinese.  I like the localized Chinese food in Malaysia better than mainland Chinese food.

The picture above is an Indian restaurant we had dinner at 2 of the 4 nights we were in Melaka.  The claim to fame of this place is the tandoori chicken.  It’s the best I’ve had. All of the dishes we had here were outstanding.  If you end up in Melaka, you must go to this place, bit you have to know the name, all the taxi drivers know it.  Just don’t the taxi driver rip you off.  they are pretty good at that!

Here’s a close-up of the Chicken.  Notice the clay colored tall jar to the left of the chicken, this is used to warm the chicken and it’s also a clay naan oven.  If you go to Melaka, don’t miss this place.

Melaka, Malaysia – Room with a view

IMG_0518

This is what I saw when I get to my Holiday Inn in Melaka, Malaysia.  Needless to say, I was pretty surprised.  It’s not everyday that you get an ocean view room in a tropical climate.  I actually didn’t even know that Melaka is a coastal tourist town.  Unfortunately, I didn’t really get much of a chance to look around in the evenings.  I spent most of my time either at the factory, having dinner, or sleeping.

I’m not sure if I’ll end up in Melaka again, but if you happen to travel through, definitely plan to spend a day looking around and shopping.
